Chelsea FC Foundation’s specialist goalkeeping coaches lead training sessions focusing on skills specific to this position. Players work on the physical and technical aspects of their position, including ball handling, positioning, shot stopping and distribution as well as psychological and social aspects of the game. Sports science workshops support on-field training.
A weekly training day at Chelsea FC’s training Centre in Cobham provides an inspirational setting for players to take their training to the next level. During the day Chelsea’s expert staff, together with special guest speakers, offer young players knowledge and insight into the professional game. Question and answer sessions will follow each workshop.
Our professional and dedicated English language teachers use a customised curriculum based on the CLIL approach used in top schools worldwide. Practising communication, reading and writing skills, students will put their learning into context, creating press releases, writing articles, conducting player interviews and researching sports-related media. An entry test groups students by age and ability at the start of the week. With an average of 12 students per class, students get excellent individual feedback.
Players will improve through a combination of coaching, skills challenges and small-sided games. They leave with a better understanding of themselves as a player and gain confidence and insight from an international football environment. Their English skills are developed inside and outside the classroom, improving all aspects of their communication and understanding. All players receive an individual coaching assessment and certificate to take home. Players studying English also receive a detailed weekly report and completion certificate from their teacher.
