Child Welfare
Caring for your child on camp is our number one priority, so we pride ourselves in hiring the right people to ensure a safe and supporting environment.
Child safety and wellbeing
Nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of every child on camp. We have an exceptional on-site welfare team at every venue, who provide round-the-clock care at a personalised 1:6 staff-to-player ratio. Each venue is overseen by a highly experienced Camp Director, who leads the welfare team to ensure the safe and secure operation of the site. Our staff are dedicated to helping players feel at home, make friends, and enjoy their experience. They are selected and trained to uphold the highest standards of child welfare and safeguarding.
As well as our outstanding welfare team, we have on-site medical staff including nurses and physiotherapists with a doctor on call, ensuring every player is supported both physically and emotionally.
Guidance For Homesickness
While a summer camp is an exciting adventure, settling into a new environment can be a big step. For many players, it may be their first time away from home without a parent, and a short period of adjustment is completely normal. Our camp schedule is designed to get players active and interacting from the moment they arrive, helping them naturally settle in, make friends, and become familiar with the site. For most players, feelings of homesickness ease after the first day, and they soon feel confident, comfortable, and fully settled into camp life.
If a player needs extra support for homesickness, our experienced welfare staff are trained to recognise and respond to emotional changes. We work closely with parents to meet each camper’s individual needs and ensure they feel supported. Based on our experience, too much contact with home during the first days can prolong homesickness, so we encourage parents to limit communication early on to help their child settle in and embrace the experience.
Injury, Illness and Medication
We are accredited by the British Accreditation Council as a trusted provider of 5-star medical care, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every player on camp.
Qualified physiotherapists are on site throughout the day to assess and treat sports-related injuries, as well as run clinics offering guidance and preventative advice. Our experienced coaches further reduce the risk of injury by leading thorough warm-up and cool-down routines before and after every training session.
Medical nurses are also available on site to assess and monitor any illnesses, with 24/7 remote access to a doctor should additional medical support be required. If a child becomes unwell, parents are promptly contacted to discuss the situation and agree on the best course of action.
We are able to administer players’ medication during camp, provided it has been declared in advance and meets the guidelines set by our medical team. More information can be found in the Parent Guides in Preparing For Camp.
Diet, Nutrition and Hydration
Meals on camp are nutritionally balanced and designed to give young athletes the fuel they need to perform. Every venue offers a range of options to choose from, including at least one vegetarian option.
Our welfare staff monitor players throughout the day to ensure they are eating and drinking enough. Water is readily available at all sports sessions, and our coaches ensure players take regular hydration breaks. We also educate campers on the importance of proper nutrition and hydration through dedicated workshops and ongoing guidance throughout their time at camp.
We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements when notified in advance. Parents are asked to provide detailed dietary information in the Player Welfare Form prior to their child’s arrival on camp, ensuring we can cater appropriately for their needs.
We ensure a safe camp experience
