TOTAL SPORT WORKSHOPS
A values-led framework and workshop programme designed to help young athletes develop positive habits, behaviours, and life skills through sport.
About the DREAMS Workshop Curriculum
Each letter of DREAMS represents one of our values: Drive, Resilience, Empower, Adapt, Mentor and Success.
Players enrolled on our Total Sport programmes take part in interactive afternoon workshops centred around the DREAMS curriculum, while their peers on Sport + English attend English lessons. These sessions help players develop valuable life skills, positive behaviours, and the confidence to succeed both in sport and beyond.
Drive Workshops
These sessions are designed to encourage players to give their best effort, step outside their comfort zones, and work hard to achieve their goals.
Example workshops include:
Making Dreams Reality: A goal-setting workshop introducing SMART goals, helping players create clear and achievable targets for the week ahead and for when they return home.
The Power of Never Giving Up: An engaging workshop exploring how effort, persistence and attitude help players overcome challenges and setbacks.
Taking part in these activities helps players understand that progress comes from effort and consistency. They will develop the tools to challenge themselves in a constructive way and set meaningful goals.
Resilience Workshops
A key skill for any young athlete is the ability to respond effectively to setbacks. These sessions will consolidate players’ work in training, helping them develop techniques to overcome challenges and learn from mistakes.
Example workshops:
Discovering Strength: A reflective session encouraging players to look back on recent experiences, recognise challenges they have faced, and identify how they overcame them.
Handling Change in Sport: A workshop focused on adapting to changing situations in sport, while introducing practical strategies for coping positively with change.
Through these workshops, players gain techniques to stay calm under pressure and bounce back from difficulties.
Empower Workshops
Every player on camp is an integral member of the team. These sessions help players understand the power of positive encouragement and how best to support each other.
Example workshops:
The Effects of Positive Encouragement: An interactive workshop demonstrating how positive encouragement can influence confidence, motivation and performance through group activities.
Power-Up: Confidence, Energy and Belief: A workshop helping players understand how confidence, positivity and attitude affect both their own performance and the people around them.
These workshops help ensure that camp is a positive and inclusive environment for everyone, while building leadership and communication skills in players.
Adapt Workshops
The ability to be agile and open to change is a key skill in professional athletes. These sessions compliment players’ training by encouraging them to be open minded, try new things and develop positive behaviours.
Topics might include:
Adapting to Healthy Habits: A workshop exploring the benefits of healthy routines, including nutrition, recovery and sleep, and how small habits can improve performance.
Risk vs Reward: A thought-provoking workshop examining decision-making in sport, helping players understand when taking risks can lead to positive outcomes.
These sessions help players remain open to new perspectives to maximise their performance and wellbeing.
Mentor Workshops
On camp, we encourage players’ to act as positive role models to their peers by showing kindness and respect to others. In workshops, players will deepen their understanding by exploring how to set a positive example to those around them.
Topics might include:
Positive Role Models: A workshop encouraging players to identify positive role models, explore the qualities that make a good leader, and consider how they can inspire others.
The Power of Trust: An activity-based workshop focused on building trust within a team and recognising the behaviours that strengthen relationships and teamwork.
These workshops develop leadership skills in young athletes by giving them positive examples to aspire towards, as well as contributing towards a respectful camp environment.
Success Workshops
Players on camp will focus on succeeding as a team. Workshops enhance their work in training by helping them understand what a successful team looks like and how they can bring out the best in each other.
Topics might include:
What Makes a Great Team? A debate-style workshop where players design their ideal team while learning to respect different opinions and perspectives.
No "I" In Team: A teamwork workshop exploring the qualities and behaviours that separate successful teams from unsuccessful ones.
These sessions help players focus on more than their own performance when considering success, developing valuable teamwork and communication skills.
